About Us
The Silver Wings Project was founded in loving memory of our beloved Hannah Ahuva Toiba. While just a young child, her impact was profound.
We know the predicament these families face because we have lived it. Hannah's journey was defined by a constant search for answers. She battled a multitude of complications—including severe respiratory, neurological, and developmental challenges—that, despite countless tests and consultations, never resulted in a comprehensive or definitive diagnosis. This diagnostic odyssey left us struggling to manage a case of such complexity.
The Overwhelming Challenge
The reality for families raising a child with exceptional needs is an overwhelming, multifaceted struggle:
The Search for Answers: When a child’s condition is rare or complex, the process of finding a diagnosis requires exhaustive and expensive medical testing, specialized consultations, and assessments often deemed "non-standard" by insurance. This phase alone can deplete a family’s financial stability.
The Cost of Efficacious Care: For these most vulnerable children, the highly specialized treatments, adaptive therapies, and advanced equipment that offer the best chance for quality of life are frequently categorized as "not medically necessary" by payers. The out-of-pocket costs for this vital care quickly become catastrophic.
The Emotional and Financial Toll: Beyond the medical expenses, managing a complex case is a 24/7 undertaking that puts an immense emotional and logistical strain on parents and siblings alike.
